We Made Them Do It (Gallery1988)

It's been a short while since I've done any gallery pieces and I was recently given a chance to do one that I never thought I'd do.  Gallery1988 was one of the original pop culture art gallery in existence a few years back, and now it seems every few weeks a new one is popping up across the US.

This July, they plan on taking it where no one else has before with “We Made Them Do It!,” the most ridiculous show in Gallery1988 history. As commentary on the insanity of other galleries creating themed shows for whatever nostalgic property they can think of, they are taking it a step further. So they asked artists to make art based on a TV show or movie that you thought you would NEVER see.

True to their word, I created a piece of fan art I'd never thought I'd have an opportunity to create.  My piece is based off of my guilty pleasure show - Duck Dynasty.  If you watch it, you get it. Enjoy!

Comic Con 2013

July is speeding by faster than expected.  While I've gone to Comic Con the past 3 years as a booth buddy for other artists, this year I'll finally have a table of my own work!

Once again, I'll be exhibiting with my buddy, Helen Yoon at table F9.  We'll be selling prints, books, pop-ups, and more.  Definitely swing by and say hi if you'll be down there!

500 Paper Objects Book

About two years back, when I graduated school, I was looking for opportunities to get my work into publications.  I happened to come by Lark Crafts' call for submissions for a book called, 500 Paper Objects:

"Paper craft is a dynamic medium that's in the midst of a renaissance—and this entry in the very popular 500 series reveals the creative work of today's most gifted and original artists and the limitless potential of the craft. Juried by Gene McHugh, an award-winning arts writer and well-established expert in the field, the book presents a broad range of techniques, forms, and aesthetic approaches, with magnificent examples of origami, kirigami, cutting, quilling, papier-mâché, and casting."

I've been waiting a long time for it to be published and it was finally released this past June and it is exciting to see 3 pieces of mine featured in the book!

The book is available on Amazon and has a great preview too.  Lots of my favorite paper artists are in there so it's definitely worth picking up.
